This course examines the policy environment, major actors, and institutions involved in the complex process of policy making in the United States. Understanding the policy process is key to examining problems and formulating appropriate solutions in policy areas such as criminal justice, education, healthcare, social welfare, housing, and environmental policy. This course will focus on the stages of the policy process including, agenda setting, policy formation, decision making, policy implementation and policy evaluation.
